What Can I Say? I'm a Follower!

Yep, I follow...so in the Hip Hop chat yesterday when they said to use the Love in the Air set, guess what I used? Really, it hadn't seen ink since I bought it, so I figured this was the perfect time to pull it out! Jon and I have a friend who owns a hot air balloon. So when we lived in MI, we used to be part of his "chase crew." That meant, while he was flying around, we drove around on the ground following him (see, I'm a follower!). It was more exciting then it sounds, promise! Jon went up a couple times...but not me, I kept my feet firmly planted on the ground!! Okay, enough chit chat (yeah, I know you're bored!). I did a lot of paper piecing on this card, and even pulled out my enemy -- the STICKLES!Supplies Used: Distressed Dots, Love in the Air, This is the Time (mini), Top Note Die, Chocolate Chip SU Ink, Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, SEI button, American Crafts ribbon, Fruit Punch, Orange Peel, Frosted Lace, Yellow, and Diamond Stickles, lots of dp

I'm in Love with vol25

OH MY GOODNESS!! I was over on Rachel's blog today and she was encouraging people to play the Etsy-Inspired challenge. It's been awhile (I checked, last time was February!) so I thought I'd try it out. So I went to the Etsy store, vol25, and FELL IN LOVE! It helps that the owner is also an artist for Unity (obviously my favorite stamp company), but the pieces were amazing. So I decided to most definitely play along this week, and you should too! Here is my inspiration piece (there were SO many to choose from). The colors, the wish sticks, the hearts, I loved the entire thing!
And here is my card:

Supplies Used: Wish Sticks, Little Me, This Is the Time (mini), American Crafts Ribbon, Shimmerz Spritz, Swiss Cheese Edger Punch, Robin's Nest Dew Drops, Curvy Label Punch

Hip Hop Hangover -- 3 in a Row!

3 weeks IN A ROW! Can you believe it?!? I don't know if I would say I have MOJO or not, but I'm a card-makin' fool! The first card is for the Unity Guest DT challenge. I don't love it. It's just kind of boring. Eh. What can you do!

Finally, Another Hangover!!

It felt so good to craft last night! Yesterday afternoon I went down to my stamping space and could you believe it....there were COBWEBS!!!! There was even a friendly spider sitting in my chair like he was taking up residence. Okay, my space is in a basement, so cobwebs/spiders aren't uncommon, but NOT in my stamping room! So here are my lovely, spider-free creations!
The first card I made using the Limelight challenge. We had to follow a sketch (which I flipped) and a sentiment.
Supplies used: Bo Bunny DP, DCWV Scalloped Cardstock, Unity's June KOM, American Crafts Ribbon, Basic Black ink

This next card uses the Mojo Monday sketch. This was my first time playing along with this one!

Supplies Used: SU! Kraft cardstock, Making Memories DP, Basic Grey ribbon, Unity's July kit of the month stamps, Shimmerz, Chocolate Chip Classic Ink

Here's to making cards instead of cobwebs!

P.S. I have a question for you Unity lovers -- if you click on the first card, you'll see that the "l" in miracle has two big white spots in it. The rubber is indented and it won't stamp there. Is this a defective stamp or does yours stamp that way too?? Just asking, I would hate to complain if it's the way it's supposed to look!

Rockin' the Kraft!

I have a new-found love for Kraft cardstock. I love making clean and simple cards using it. I had been hooked on using Very Vanilla cardstock as my base (and still do quite often), but as of lately, I have been LOVING the kraft. I think it just makes a simple card POP! So here's a few simple cards I made with Kraft cardstock. What do you think: love kraft or hate it?

Supplies Used: Kraft Cardstock (SU!), Wheat Cardstock (American Crafts), Creamy Caramel Cardstock (SU!)My Heart Sings (Unity Stamps), Ribbon (SU!, American Crafts), Kaiser Pearls, Swiss Dots Cuttlebug Folder, Circle Punch, Creamy Caramel and Chocolate Chip (SU! All Glittered Up!

One thing you should know about me...I don't love glitter, stickles, and sparkle. Don't get me wrong, now. I love it on YOUR cards, YOU can rock it, YOU can make it work, YOU don't smear it just by looking at it. I on the other hand, can NOT rock it, I can NOT make it work, and I CAN indeed smear it merely by glancing at it. So the fact that I made not one, but TWO cards this weekend with glitter is beyond amazing! Both cards are from VSN (Virtual Stamp Night) Challenges over at SCS.

Card 1: The challenge was to make a card inspired by food. I used this glitter willingly!Supplies Used: DCWV DP, SU! Very Vanilla Cardstock, SU! Chocolate Chip Classic Ink, Scalloped Circles Nestabilities, Daisy D's Ric-Rac Rub On's, American Crafts Ribbon, Simple Pleasures Unity Stamp Set, Doodlebug glitter

Card 2: We had to make a card using glitter on a full panel. This was messy....VERY messy. The card is very sparkly and I like it though! (SHHH! Don't tell!)

Supplies Used: SU! Basic Black Classic Ink, Doodlebug glitter, Spare Parts Ribbon and brad, Daisy D's rub on stitches, Imaginisce DP, Very Vanilla Cardstock, Black Cardstock, Fresh Beginnings (April KOTM), Love, etc (Jan. KOTM) from Unity Stamps

Check back this week for more VSN Challenge Cards!

I Fell Off the Wagon...But I'm Getting Back Up!

So I said I was going to get more involved in doing challenges...and I stuck with it for like a week! Are you kidding me?!? I stuck with exercising longer then that (okay, not MUCH longer, but still longer then a week!). Well, I have been fighting some sort of cold/virus thing for 3 weeks now. I'm almost ready to cave and go to the doctor. I've had no energy to do ANYTHING! The house has gone from messy to just plain disgusting, the laundry has piled up, and all I want to do is sleep! So this week, I'm getting back on track. If I don't feel better tomorrow I'm going to the doctor and I'm going to GET BETTER! The house will get a thorough cleaning, the laundry and ironing (UGH) will get done, and I will get back to my stampin' challenges! I made an attempt at VSN over at Splitcoast this weekend...just to give me something to do. My cards were...well...gross! I actually uploaded one, deleted it, and threw it away!! I would like to say that I reached for my little Cuttlebug so many times yesterday and almost cried every time! I almost replaced it this week at Mike's -- they were half off! But I'm holding out and saving up for a Big Shot (thanks Tess!). I just kept repeating that to myself yesterday. Okay this blog post is getting way too long (does anybody read it when it's this long?!?) Here's a few cards to share from VSN. They are gross, but it's all I have! :)

First up, the Wee Bit of Love Challenge: We had to create a card using "inchies" (1 inch squares)
Stamps: Jan. Kit of the Month (Unity), Greeting Galore (SU)
Ink: Basic Black
Accessories: label punch, ticket corner punch, ribbon, rhinestones, square punch

Next was the Joy Fold Card. I've never made this type of card before, and I'm not so sure I did it right, but I attempted it anyway!
Stamps: Oct and Feb Kit of the Month (Unity)
Paper: Stampin' Up Holiday Collection, Soft Sky, Taken with Teal
Ink: Blue Bayou
Accessories: District Ribbon (SU), Slit punch

And the last one that I'm going to share is the "L" word challenge. You had to create a card using things that started with the letter "L." I made a Little Lavender card with Leftover scraps and the Loads of Love set...with just a Little bling and a Lovely ribbon (yes, I used Little twice...not very creative here!)
Stamps: Loads of Love (SU)
Paper: Lavender
Ink: Basic Black
Accessories: Ribbon, Dew Drops Pin It Now!

Where'd the Time Go??

I had time to make ONE card this entire week...And when I finished it, it was ugly and not at all what I pictured. But since I have nothing else to share you get to see it anyway! :)
Supplies:
Spring in the Mail (Unity)
Cardstock and DP from SU!
Ribbon from Martha Stewart
Brads (brand unknown) Pin It Now!

Another Peacock!

This little peacock is so cute! I had made this peacock and was going to put it on my previous card (see below), but felt that the colors didn't match, so I made a new peacock for that project. For the limited supplies challenge at scs you had to make a card with a black base. I thought that was perfect to make this peacock POP!
Supplies:
Peacock (Unity, Jan. KOTM), just because (SU!, Just Celebrate!)
Basic Black and Summer Sun ink, ki ribbon, buttons, word window punch (SU!), Top Note die, sponge, markers, Swiss Dot embossing die Pin It Now!

70's Peacock, Happy Birthday, and HELP!!!

I've got a long blog post for you today! Saturday I was able to go scrap with a friend for awhile and she has the Top Note die. I LOVE THIS THING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cut out a bunch of them and I have two cards to share. The first one is a birthday card. I also used her Stampin' Up markers and I liked them! I am thinking about investing in those.

Supplies:
Polka Dot Cupcake (Unity Stamp Co)
Happy Birthday Stamp (Stampin' Up)
Top Note Die (SU), Ribbon (American Crafts), Swiss Dot Die (Cuttlebug)

The second card is one of my favorites. It looks like it's from the 70's because of the yellow and brown. But that's okay -- I like it! I embossed the top note die with swiss dots then I used sandpaper to bring the yellow dots to the front of the cardstock. Supplies:
Peacock (Unity Stamp Co)
Happiness (SU)
Ribbon (American Craft), Swiss Dot Die (Cuttlebug), Core'dinations Chocolate Box Cardstock, Sandpaper, Sponge, Summer Sun and Chocolate Chip ink (SU)

Okay, last but not least, I NEED HELP!!! I bought a scrapbook layout that had everything you need to make the page and I need to know the brand of patterned paper. I do NOT know my brands very well at all... so any help, or even guesses would be appreciated!! It's the paper that's on the arrow!

Okay, that's all for now!! Thanks for reading my super long post! :)

Enjoy!

Sunday Stampin'

I get TONS of stamping done on the weekends...especially now that the holidays are over...but since I'm a slow stamper, TONS for me is probably very little for you! Anyway, here is one of my favorite cards from the weekend. The patterned paper is from American Crafts and Basic Grey. The image is from Unity Stamp Co. The ink is chocolate chip and the sponged ink is Creamy Caramel.

Enjoy!
