I made this card for the CardPatterns sketch #155.

A Woodsy Birthday Card

Today I used CardPatterns sketch #111 to create a masculine birthday card. I also wanted to post for FWF so I used the Ippity stamp from Life's Little Moments set. Then I decided that I would go ahead and do the inside of my card too, and enter it into the My Unity Place challenge. I didn't really use a lot of stamps since the paper is the star of this card, but I really like how it turned out.

Supplies Used: Ippity(Life's Little Moments), Nikki Sivils (Tree Love Patterned Paper), Jillibean Soup (Bean Sprouts), Nestabilities (Labels 1)

Spring Birdies

This week is my spring break. I had grand ideas of working in my garden and planting some vegetables. Apparently nature had other ideas...winter isn't over just yet. Today the sun's shining (even though it's still cold) and the snow is starting to melt! So instead of working out in the garden, I decided to work in my craft room. I played along with the Unity theme challenge for the month. This month's theme is birds.

Supplies Used: Unity Stamp Co. (endings and beginnings), Ippity Stamps (Life's Little Moments), October Afternoon (5 & Dime), Nestabilities (Labels 1), Fiskars Border Punch (Apron Lace), Jillibean Soup (Bean Stalks Red)
I hope you are all enjoying your spring -- and don't have too much snow on the ground!

Gray Is the New Black

Here is a card that I made for the Gray is The New Black Challenge over on the Moxie Fab blog. I love black and white cards, so I figured that if gray is the new black, I should try a gray and white card. I really like the results. It looks like a very CAS (clean & simple) card. And it is. But the actual making of the card -- not so much. I'm not sure who came up with the CAS term, but I don't like it. So I've been trying to come up with a new word for "simple." Clean and sassy? Clean and somber? Clean and sinfully wonderful? HA! Well, I will keep working on that. But for now, enjoy my clean and not that simple (for me) to make, gray is the new black, card.

I used sandpaper to sand down the gray cardstock (from Core'dinations) to give it a "canvas" look. Then I embossed the three flowers (from Ippity's Faith Blooms) down the side. I stitched around the edges with my sewing machine. Then I added the framed sentiment (frame and stamps from MFT Framed Greetings) to the middle of the card. To try and give this card a little more character, I set the greeting towards the bottom of the card, rather then center it right in the middle (which was difficult for this somewhat OCD person to do.)

There is still time for you to make a gray card too. Visit the Moxie Fab blog for details.

Close Your Eyes

Wait, no keep them open -- otherwise you won't be able to read. :)
I created this card for CPS Sketch #199. I really like how it turned out. I think it may be my favorite card that I've created so far this year (and I think I've created 2 so far). When I was putting the card together I was really surprised at how well I like the orange and plum color together.

Supplies Used: Rubber Stamps (Ippity Faith Blooms; Unity Stamp Co. Moments in Bloom), Patterned Paper (Basic Grey Nook and Pantry), Accessories (Nestabilities Circle, Scalloped Circle, Rectangle; Making Memories Brads; Doodlebug Glitter; Sewing Machine)

Also, here is something I have been meaning to show you. My 6 year old niece made me this nugget tin for Christmas. How cute is this?!

I love that she crafts with her mom (my sister -- the one who got me into all this crazy stamping and scrapbooking stuff to begin with!).

Nicole Pie! (&FWF)

This weekend is my niece Nicole's 8th birthday party. How in the world she got so old, I don't know!! I gave her a nickname when she was little -- "Nicole Pie." Awhile ago, she took a picture of herself sitting in a pie pan and had her mom send it to me. So I framed it and I'm going to give it to her for her birthday.

And here's the card I made for her, using the Limelight sketch challenge.
I used Cosmo Cricket Material Girl and Joy Ride patterned paper. The pie stamp in the frame is from the Hodge Podge of Happiness set. The card uses Mix Up of Cuteness and the Happy Birthday is from Ippity's Life's Little Moments set.

Minestrone Soup

I'm not a fan of actual Minestrone soup or zucchini (the kind of you eat!)... However, I love the Thin Zucchini paper from the Minestrone collection from Jillibean Soup -- that's something I can say YUM to! I played along with the sketch over at their blog. I haven't made a scrapbook page in forever. I was a little rusty, but I really liked the end result! Sorry the picture isn't the greatest, I haven't gotten the hang of photographing scrapbook pages yet!
Supplies Used: Core'dinations, Jillibean Soup, Ippity, Making Memories Acrylic Paint, Shimmerz, brads

Some Ippity Love

I made the bookmarks using this tutorial. It's a great way to use up scrap paper and make a cute gift for somebody. I used the Because of You set.

I made these bookmarks for the kids at church and I'm going to attach some yummy candy to them. Can you believe that it is February?! Well, for me January seemed to go forever. Probably because it's the first full month of work after the holidays. And speaking of work...it's Monday. Yay. (Complete and utter sarcasm. In case you missed it!) Enjoy your day!
Go on back to the ippity blog to keep on hopping!
Come back tomorrow and you'll see the fun ones I made for the boys!

A Triple Threat!

I made this card for the Paper Maniac challenge -- we had to use faux stitching, texture, and a button (that isn't a circle!) This challenge was hard to wrap my head around! First of all, finding a button that isn't a circle. Look really close on my card and you'll see that one of the buttons in the flower is an oval. Check. Secondly, texture. Easy peasy! Swiss Dots embossing folder. I sometimes wonder why I invest in other embossing folders when I always seem drawn to this one. Addiction, I'm guessing. Anyway, check off number 2. And last we come to the faux stitching. I bet you are looking at my card and are saying wow that looks so REAL! Shhhh, don't tell anybody, but it is. I struggled for so long with it and messed up card after card. I am not kidding. And I kept looking longingly at my Janome...it wanted me to use it. Sorry folks, I am a BAD faux stitcher (apparently, according to spell check, stitcher is not a word. However, I don't know how else to say it. I make up words and bend the rules a little, I'm feeling so rebellious! Ha!)...So, half check for that!

I didn't like this card when it was finished. And then I looked at it later and really liked it. And now I am back to not liking it so much. Apparently I am also a little indecisive today.
On this card I used Cosmo Cricket Girl Friday paper and a little bit of paper from October Afternoon. The nestie is a Label 4 and the stamp is an {ippity} stamp from the Because of You set. I added texture to the flowers with my Swiss Dots and then I sprayed them with Shimmerz and crumpled them a little bit. I also added some Shimmerz to the leaves on my flowers, but that's hard to see in the picture.
Oh and side note -- the leaves on the flower are actually a CLEAR STAMP. That's right, CLEAR. I got it for free when CTMH was doing a give away of some sort...Pick up your jaws from the floor, because it's true. I, Katy Tipton, used a clear stamp.

Wow, I'm chatty today! Sorry for the long (but OH SO INFORMATIVE) post! Hehe.

Combining a Few of My Favorite Things

Limelight Sketch Challenges, {ippity} stamps, and buttons. Definitely a few of my favorite things!! The challenge this week on the {ippity} board was to make a card with buttons. Then I saw that Mandy was doing a sketch challenge and the focus was BUTTONS. Oh, the stars aligned this week, didn't they?! Or maybe great minds were all thinking alike? Either way...I combined it all, and here is my challenge card!

{H}Ippity Hop!

I made this card using the CPS Sketch Challenge and for the{H}ippity Hop. I love these stinkin' cute owls! The ippity set that I used is Life's Little Moments.

I hope everybody is having a happy Monday. I don't know about you, but I'm back to work today -- it seems like it is too soon!

What?!? A Non-Christmas Card?!?

Hard to believe, I know! Here is a card I did for the Sketchy Thursday Second Chance Challenge. I finally had a chance to break out my {Ippity} stamps (whoo-hoo! I ordered mine from Martha. I'm not sure if she has any left in stock, but check her out.) I really love this card. It was hard getting back into the non-Christmas card groove!
Supplies Used: Life's Little Moments (Ippity), Craft Fair pp (American Crafts), ribbon (American Crafts), rhinestones (Basic Grey), Scalloped Rectangle Nestabilities
