Sew What?

Have you noticed the 1980's creeping it's way back to "trendy?" I sure have. Lisa Frank sticker books in the Target Dollar Spot. Neon and slouchy socks. Big hair. I've seen it all... I'm waiting for crimped hair and mismatched socks with Keds (I'm sure it's there, I just haven't seen it yet!), and then the 1980's will be full swing. So, the Moxie Fab sketch challenge had a speech bubble. It made me think of all those speech bubble stickers I used to play with. Years ago, when I started scrapbooking, I bought a whole set of speech bubble stickers and made the people in my pictures "say" things. Well, as they say, history repeats itself! So here's my card for the challenge...although I would say it's a little more "trendy" then the scrapbooking speech bubbles!
Supplies Used: Cosmo Cricket Material Girl paper, Gina K Kraft and SU Very Vanilla cardstock, Labels 4 Nestabilities, April Store Kit (Super Sweet & Stuck On You), speech bubble cut from my Silhouette, Tim Holtz Sizzix Scallop Edge

Playing Instead of Packing

Yeah...I know I should be packing instead of playing in my craft room. But we all need a little break now and then. Of course, a break would be a little more warranted if I had actually done more then a few boxes. Good thing I work well under pressure, right?! Okay on to the card. I made this for two challenges. The caardvarks challenge to create a monochromatic card and for the CardPatterns sketch #61.

I don't usually do close-ups of the card, but I loved my Tim Holtz scallop edge dies so much, I thought I would show you. The paper is the basics kraft paper pad from Basic Grey. The stamps are from Unity Stamp Co. (April store kit), and the pearls are from Kaisercraft.

COHESIVE!

Don't you hate when you're trying to think of a word and it just will not come to you?! Well, last night when I was writing my blog post, I was trying to think of a word... The line that the designers on Project Runway make have to be cohesive...and so that's what I was going for with my cards. Cohesiveness! Anyway, moving on... I wanted to show you something exciting. Soon, I will be living just down the road from this:
The Memory Bank! A local scrapbook and stamp store! This just confirms that I HAVE to find a job once we move! (do you think they are hiring?!)

Project Runway Inspired...Sort Of

I love to watch Project Runway -- the fabrics, the designs, the crazy designers. At the end of the season, the top 3 (sometimes 4) designers get a budget and have to create a certain number of outfits. Most of the outfits have the same fabric (because they are on a budget!), so I decided to take a clue from them and make cards using the same piece of 12x12 patterned paper to create my cards. The first card was for the CardPatterns Sketch #60.
The second card was for a new challenge blog I decided to try, Crazy 4 Challenges.

And the last...well it didn't end up as a card yet. I got stuck. It was for the Limelight challenge, but I didn't get it finished (it's still sitting just like this on my table). Picture it all put together...It's like one of those "pick your own ending" books, only for cards. I may be on to something here. Haha!
I also have a little piece of news to share with you. I'm moving north! Jon was offered a new job in Wisconsin, and after a lot of praying, discussions, and him driving me crazy, we have decided to move. I'm sad to be leaving, but excited about the new opportunities that are ahead. We will be moving next month, so if you notice that I'm not blogging much, well now you know why.
And if anybody has any great ideas for some "We've Moved" cards, share with me! We've moved about 6 times now...so I'm out of ideas. I'm thinking a simple email might be it!

Good Day!

Well, it's the big 3-0 for me. No more being a twenty-something. I'm okay with it (what else can you do?!?). And really, it's been a good day. A normal, just like any-other day sort of day...with a few exceptions. First, a card from somebody I consider one of my closest friends. She even sent me some paper and flowers and such...no wonder I like her so much! Hehe, thanks Krista!

Then another good friend posted a card on her blog. Thanks Rachel!

My husband bought me roses and a gift (rotary cutter and cutting mats...for my new sewing hobby!).

A very nice guy from our church showed up with donuts for me this morning. I told him it was a great birthday present and he said he didn't know it was my birthday, he just thought I'd like some! So then he and his 2 grandkids sang happy birthday to me. How sweet! I asked his grandson if he was having fun with grandpa today and he responded "The most awesome fun time!"

Jon is spending the day golfing. It is beautiful out. He is so lucky. I am spending the day working from home. He says I can make whatever I want for supper. How is that different from any other night? I'm not sure. So I said maybe he could just take me out for supper. I guess we'll see. :)

Thinking of You...Again and Again!

A few thinking of you cards to share!
First one was using the sketch from the Basic Grey Challenge blog.

I used Nook and Pantry pp from Basic Grey. Stamps are from Unity.

Second card used CardPatterns Sketch #59.
I used more Nook and Pantry pp, Basic Grey Blush fabric, Sizzix flower die, Spellbinders Impressabilities Circles, and Unity stamp.

Last card was just using some leftovers I had:

I inked the Circle Impressabilities die and ran it through the Big Shot, ribbon is from American Crafts and the same stamp is Unity.

Put Some SPRING In Your Step!

Who's ready for a little spring mojo?? I love spring, it's my favorite season. I love thunderstorms and tulips (mine haven't come up yet!) and watching the brown turn green! So I decided to look around on some blogs and see what people are creating that put a little spring in my step! Here's some of what I found:

Pamela has a store called Party Starters and she shared this cake that she made for a customer. I love the colors! I have to try to make one of these cakes some day. They are so cute!

These cards by Lucy are SO cute...It makes me wish that I liked digi stamps!

Robyn made these adorable treat bags AND this adorable bee-day card. It's a double shout-out for Robyn because I couldn't choose just one! :)

Is that enough spring for everybody? How about just one more? This layout by Pamela is so cute and I love the colors!

Hope you all are enjoying your spring!

Snack Time!

I made this page for the second Unity Scrapbook Sketch challenge. I was happy that this one was a little more simple for me...maybe I kept it too simple, but that's the way I like it! :) This page is of my niece and nephew doing their favorite thing...raiding the fridge! That's probably one of my favorite things to do too. hehe

Supplies Used: Unity Stamp Co. (perfect in every way), Cosmo Cricket (Girl Friday), Jillibean Soup (Corrugated Kraft Alphas, Journaling Sprouts)

I Hate When I Do That!

So I made this scrapbook page for the Sketchy Thursday blog sketch challenge. Tuesday night at 11:30 I remembered that I hadn't yet photographed the page and submitted it. I almost got out of bed and did it then! I should have. Because I am just now posting it. Oh well, it happens. Lucky for me, I also used the recipe challenge on the Scrap and Stamp blog, and I still have time to link it there!
Supplies Used: American Crafts thickers and pp (Craft Fair), Unity Stamp Co. (Confession: i {luv} unity, Fact of Love), Kaisercraft Rhinestones, Core'dinations cardstock
