Jeremiah 29:11 -- My Hope

PAPER MANIAC BLOG HOP IS NEXT POST DOWN
(but feel free to read this one too!)

Last year, I started the His Holy Name challenge at Patter's blog...I didn't stick with it, although I had really intended to. So when I saw that she had a Scripture Challenge for 2010, I had decided that I wasn't going to do it. However, when I saw the first word she chose I just had to. Every year at church, my husband has a theme. This year's theme -- A Year of Hope. So far, through the month of January, I have really needed some hope. So, I'm in. I really hope (hehe) I stick with it this year -- you can feel free to keep me accountable! Okay, enough talk. You just come for the creations, I know. :)
I decided to use the verse -- For I know the plans I have for you declared the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11) I used that verse since it is the verse my husband is using throughout the year at church.
I used Cosmo Cricket Honey Pie paper and journaling card, American Crafts letters, and Making Memories fibers.
(Oh yeah, I should mention for those of you who don't know - my husband is a pastor. He doesn't just randomly come up with themes for the church or anything. hehe)

A Triple Threat!

I made this card for the Paper Maniac challenge -- we had to use faux stitching, texture, and a button (that isn't a circle!) This challenge was hard to wrap my head around! First of all, finding a button that isn't a circle. Look really close on my card and you'll see that one of the buttons in the flower is an oval. Check. Secondly, texture. Easy peasy! Swiss Dots embossing folder. I sometimes wonder why I invest in other embossing folders when I always seem drawn to this one. Addiction, I'm guessing. Anyway, check off number 2. And last we come to the faux stitching. I bet you are looking at my card and are saying wow that looks so REAL! Shhhh, don't tell anybody, but it is. I struggled for so long with it and messed up card after card. I am not kidding. And I kept looking longingly at my Janome...it wanted me to use it. Sorry folks, I am a BAD faux stitcher (apparently, according to spell check, stitcher is not a word. However, I don't know how else to say it. I make up words and bend the rules a little, I'm feeling so rebellious! Ha!)...So, half check for that!

I didn't like this card when it was finished. And then I looked at it later and really liked it. And now I am back to not liking it so much. Apparently I am also a little indecisive today.
On this card I used Cosmo Cricket Girl Friday paper and a little bit of paper from October Afternoon. The nestie is a Label 4 and the stamp is an {ippity} stamp from the Because of You set. I added texture to the flowers with my Swiss Dots and then I sprayed them with Shimmerz and crumpled them a little bit. I also added some Shimmerz to the leaves on my flowers, but that's hard to see in the picture.
Oh and side note -- the leaves on the flower are actually a CLEAR STAMP. That's right, CLEAR. I got it for free when CTMH was doing a give away of some sort...Pick up your jaws from the floor, because it's true. I, Katy Tipton, used a clear stamp.

Wow, I'm chatty today! Sorry for the long (but OH SO INFORMATIVE) post! Hehe.

Nothin' Much

Soooo...I made these cards one night. Didn't fall in love with them, but since my blog hasn't had many updates lately (besides yesterday!), I thought I would share anyway. They use chipboard of course. I am seriously using up my stash and lovin' it!

More Happiness!

Sorry for the second post in one day, but I wanted to get another challenge card posted. This is another sketch challenge and it comes from Delightful Sketches. And sticking with today's theme -- it's another "happy" card! It uses Cosmo Cricket Earth Love paper, Scalloped and regular rectangle nesties and the stamps are from the Sweet Affections Unity kit.

I hope everybody is having a great weekend!

Don't Worry! Be Happy!

I made this card for the Limelight sketch. The product focus is on canvas, but I don't have any that I could find...but Mandy is cool enough to let us play anyway! Can you see the sketch in my card? I used the bingo card as the boxes behind the main image...I think it works really well! This card uses Cosmo Cricket Girl Friday paper, Kraft cardstock and jute are from Gina K, and the stamp set is from Unity (Sweet Affections).

Feeling a Little Blue (and White)?

The Stamp Something challenge is to create a card that is blue and white. I made this card using some paper that my crafty friend Rachel sent me. Good timing for the challenge! The stamp is from Unity  (go ahead wish).

Keeping it short and sweet today! For those of you (lucky) ones that have tomorrow off -- enjoy your long weekend!

Chip, cHip, HOORAY!

Another card with chipboard. I love it! I was having a hard time with it, and Krista helped me make it -- virtually! Aren't computers awesome?! And scrappy friends are even more awesome! This is from the Basic Grey Sugared collection and the stamp is from the Unity set Sending My Love.

Your turn! Get out that chipboard and use up that stash!

An Archaic Collection

I have TONS of paper that I need to use up as well as chipboard. Why do I always forget to use the chipboard?! So I made a collection of cards using Basic Grey Archaic paper and matching chipboard. You saw one of the cards yesterday. The rest I'm going to share today. They don't have sentiments on them yet, because I don't know if I'll be using them for birthdays or new baby boys or what. These were so simple to make and took me no time at all.

I think they turned out cute, what do you think?

Some Gina K. Challenges

I went to my first ever Gina K. release party the other night. It moves FAST! Reminded me of the old (Unity) Hip Hop days. Anyway, I didn't stay long, but I did get to see the challenges and decided to participate. The first card was for a sketch challenge -- you can find the sketch here. The other challenge was to make a Valentine card without the colors red and pink.

I used Earth Love paper from Cosmo Cricket and the Gina K. stamp set Owl Always Love You.

I used Basic Grey Archaic PP and chipboard and the sentiment is from the Unity set Sending My Love

If you ever get a chance to go to a Gina K. party you should definitely go. It moves fast but the thread is full of eye candy goodness!

A Really Hard Sketch!

Okay, I have to tell you up front, this sketch was really hard for this CAS lovin' girl! So when you see this card, it will still look CAS to you, but it really was anything BUT simple! I used the caardvarks sketch.

I used My Mind's Eye paper from the Where the Heart Is collection, and the sentiment is from Lizzie Anne, Sketched Sentiments. The border punch is Apron Lace from Fiskars.

I hope you are all having a great weekend. It is SO cold here, I can't wait until the end of next week when we might warm up to the 30's. It's a heat wave, baby!

Stay warm!

Combining a Few of My Favorite Things

Limelight Sketch Challenges, {ippity} stamps, and buttons. Definitely a few of my favorite things!! The challenge this week on the {ippity} board was to make a card with buttons. Then I saw that Mandy was doing a sketch challenge and the focus was BUTTONS. Oh, the stars aligned this week, didn't they?! Or maybe great minds were all thinking alike? Either way...I combined it all, and here is my challenge card!

{H}Ippity Hop!

I made this card using the CPS Sketch Challenge and for the{H}ippity Hop. I love these stinkin' cute owls! The ippity set that I used is Life's Little Moments.

I hope everybody is having a happy Monday. I don't know about you, but I'm back to work today -- it seems like it is too soon!

Welcome Twenty-Ten!

Well, it's 2010! Amazing, huh? I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and rang in the New Year right! I know I did -- sound asleep in my bed! Yep, I'm a wild woman, I know. :)
I made this first card before I left for vacation, but didn't get a chance to post it. I followed the Limelight Sketch #37, and even though it's too late to enter it, I thought you liked to see anyway, right? I used the star from the Unity set a pocket full of... and the sentiment is from Lizzie Anne's set Sketched Sentiments.

This second card I made for my niece. I bought her some Hello Kitty stuff for Christmas and she told me that she LOVES Hello Kitty, but has never watched her on TV and she really wants to. So of course, Aunt Katy has to take care of that. So I bought her a DVD and plan on sending it to her with this card. I have never made an acetate card before, but I think it's cute! Hard to photograph though...

P.S. On my last post, about losing my blog design, I was asked by a few people how to make a copy of your blog so that you don't lose it. Here's some simple instructions:

To back up your blog you can do one of two things:

Go to the edit html tab under layout and download the full template.

Or you can copy and paste all your html into a notepad document. It has to be Notepad because it doesn't convert the html like other word processing programs.

Hope that helps! :)
