Mix and Match

I made this card for Mother's Day using a whole bunch of different companies. Sometimes it's nice to mix things up a little. I also used the CardPatterns sketch #113.
Supplies Used: {Stamps}Blooming with Love (Stampin' Up), Giving It All Meaning (Unity), Notes to Mom (Gina K. Designs); {Paper} Nook and Pantry (Basic Grey); {Accessories} Circle Nestabilities, May Arts Ribbon, Water Color Pencils (Stampin' Up)

Two In One Day!

I have another quick blog post to share with you today. It's the matching card that I made to go with my niece's purse (see post below this one). I wanted to use some of the fabric that I had left over in the card. I think it turned out so cute. I hope she loves it as much as I do! I had to flip it on it's side and the card size is a bit different, but I used the CPS sketch #202.

Supplies Used: Fabric (Jo-Anns), Nestabilities (Circles and Scalloped Circles), Brads (Making Memories), Patterned Paper (Basic Grey Nook and Pantry), Stamps (Gina K), Ribbon (stash)
And here's the card with the purse. I think they match!

Apparently I'm a Little Too Dramatic

Maybe you noticed this in the last post? I write for effect...I wasn't literally crying about the snow or anything. I will survive the winter. No worries. There is one thing that I love/hate about winter though. That's wearing sweaters and sweatshirts. I love being all cuddled up in a comfy sweater. What I hate though is when I have to put on a coat over the top of them. Let's just say I'm big enough without all the layers...add the coat and I have a serious oomp-a-loomp-a problem. I look like I could do some serious damage to some bowling pins. I better not bend down when standing on top of a hill... You get my drift. Big and round. :) Someday I will figure out how to be warm and stylish. Until then... I have a card! I am really loving the Cosmo Cricket Mitten Weather paper. I really like the non-traditional colors for Christmas cards.

P.S. The snow didn't stick, the sun is shining and it's pretty nice today! YAY!

The Card that Took FOR-EVER

This was just one of those cards where nothing seemed to go right. I really liked how the paper pieced mom and baby turned out. I also liked the scallop on the side. But I just couldn't figure out how to finish it off. I wish that I would have left the sentiment on the bottom completely off and just put something on the inside of the card. Without the sentiment, it just looked unfinished to me. But in the end, it probably did look better without it. Sometimes, I tend to overthink things. Then I had an awful time getting a good picture of the card. It was cloudy and overcast all day and the textured cardstock didn't seem to photograph well either. I finally gave up and I've done my best to edit it so it looks...well at least viewable, I guess.

Surprise, surprise, another baby card, right?? :) (Nope, still not hinting at anything!)

Hope everybody is having a great week!

Sew What?

Have you noticed the 1980's creeping it's way back to "trendy?" I sure have. Lisa Frank sticker books in the Target Dollar Spot. Neon and slouchy socks. Big hair. I've seen it all... I'm waiting for crimped hair and mismatched socks with Keds (I'm sure it's there, I just haven't seen it yet!), and then the 1980's will be full swing. So, the Moxie Fab sketch challenge had a speech bubble. It made me think of all those speech bubble stickers I used to play with. Years ago, when I started scrapbooking, I bought a whole set of speech bubble stickers and made the people in my pictures "say" things. Well, as they say, history repeats itself! So here's my card for the challenge...although I would say it's a little more "trendy" then the scrapbooking speech bubbles!
Supplies Used: Cosmo Cricket Material Girl paper, Gina K Kraft and SU Very Vanilla cardstock, Labels 4 Nestabilities, April Store Kit (Super Sweet & Stuck On You), speech bubble cut from my Silhouette, Tim Holtz Sizzix Scallop Edge

Don't Worry! Be Happy!

I made this card for the Limelight sketch. The product focus is on canvas, but I don't have any that I could find...but Mandy is cool enough to let us play anyway! Can you see the sketch in my card? I used the bingo card as the boxes behind the main image...I think it works really well! This card uses Cosmo Cricket Girl Friday paper, Kraft cardstock and jute are from Gina K, and the stamp set is from Unity (Sweet Affections).

Some Gina K. Challenges

I went to my first ever Gina K. release party the other night. It moves FAST! Reminded me of the old (Unity) Hip Hop days. Anyway, I didn't stay long, but I did get to see the challenges and decided to participate. The first card was for a sketch challenge -- you can find the sketch here. The other challenge was to make a Valentine card without the colors red and pink.

I used Earth Love paper from Cosmo Cricket and the Gina K. stamp set Owl Always Love You.

I used Basic Grey Archaic PP and chipboard and the sentiment is from the Unity set Sending My Love

If you ever get a chance to go to a Gina K. party you should definitely go. It moves fast but the thread is full of eye candy goodness!

Combining a Few of My Favorite Things

Limelight Sketch Challenges, {ippity} stamps, and buttons. Definitely a few of my favorite things!! The challenge this week on the {ippity} board was to make a card with buttons. Then I saw that Mandy was doing a sketch challenge and the focus was BUTTONS. Oh, the stars aligned this week, didn't they?! Or maybe great minds were all thinking alike? Either way...I combined it all, and here is my challenge card!

The Last of 'Em!

Here's the last of my Christmas cards. I hope all my blog readers (and blog happen-uponers too!) have a VERY merry Christmas. My favorite Christmas set this year was Christmas Blessings by Taylored Expressions because it said exactly what I wanted it to... remember what Christmas is all about!
Supplies Used: Christmas Blessings (Taylored Expressions), Gina K Kraft CS, Top Note die, Regular and Scalloped Rectangle Nestabilities, Rhinestones, Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder, American Crafts ribbon

Supplies Used: Holiday Spirit (SU), Christmas Blessings (TE), Mistletoe PP (Making Memories), Apron Lace Border Punch (Fiskars), Gina K kraft CS, American Crafts ribbon

Let me leave you with this -- you HAVE to go to this site. It is so funny. My friend (and paper crafter extraordinaire!) Krista showed it to me and I have been addicted ever since!

Christmas Candles

I made some more candles for a few Christmas presents this year. These are just so cute and easy to make (although I made votive candles this time and had a hard time not burning my fingers!) I used the Vintage Borders set from Gina K. Designs, Christmas Verses from Our Daily Bread Designs, and Christmas Blessings from Taylored Expressions. 3 of my favorite Christmas sets this year!

I didn't want to make boxes for the candles, and I remembered that I had some bags left from the old Unity Stamps packaging. How cute are these??

Liar, Liar!

Remember that I said you would get a short break from Christmas cards. Well, I lied. But not on purpose. I never did get those birthday cards done (thank goodness for a stash, right!). But I did get 2 more cards done for some challenges. The first one is the Etsy-Inspired challenge. I'm really bad at remembering to do this one, but every once in awhile, I'm on the ball! I was inspired by this piece here in the Barefoot Weaver store.
Supplies Used: Tiny Trinity (Unity), Christmas Blessings (TE), Winter Wonderland PP (LAD), Vintage Christmas Flowersoft, Kaisercraft Rhinestones, Threading Water Border Punch (Fiskars)

And this card is for the Card Patterns sketch. I'm not sure that I got it posted on time. I had it done last week and just now had a chance to post it.
Supplies Used: Christmas Verses (ODBD), Kraft CS (Gina K), Mistletoe PP (Making Memores), Threading Water Border Punch (Fiskars), American Crafts ribbon

Chipboard Fun

This card is for the Limelight Sketch challenge and the product focus was chipboard. I love how this card turned out, one of my favorite Christmas cards so far! I bought a Pixie Plus sewing machine and I wanted to sew around the squares, but the machine didn't work well. I spent more time threading the machine then actually sewing, so I packed it back up and returned it. I think I see a Janome Sew Mini in my future :)
Supplies Used: Vintage Borders (Gina K. Stamps), Earth Love chipboard (Cosmo Cricket), Snowflake Border (EK Success), black and kraft cardstock

Oh Yeah, I CAN Cook!

If there is one thing everybody knows about me, it's that cooking is NOT my strong point. I don't enjoy it and I rarely enjoy eating what I cook (I have two words for you -- GREEN CHICKEN -- my husband will probably never let me live that down!) So imagine my surprise when I received a "Most Creative Chef" award....from VSN!! So, I can't cook in the kitchen, but in my craft room - WATCH OUT! hehe This was for Paula Deen, The Queen challenge. The card had to be brown and yellow with crumpled paper (fried chicken and butter! And the crumpling was to represent the frying).Supplies Used: Owl Always Love You (Gina K. Designs), SU Kraft CS, Coredinations Chocolate Box, Ink: Chocoloate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Top Note Die, Spots and Dots Embossing Folder, Ribbon, Sandpaper

Limelight Sketch and Product Challenge

Here's another card I did for a challenge. I have been finding that I enjoy making cards more when I have a "reason" so I have been doing a lot of challenges lately. The Limelight challenge was to follow the sketch that was provided and to use paint of some kind. I used Shimmerz Blingz to paint the flower on my card. Not too long ago, Mandy had an awesome sale on these and I was told to try them. I was leery because of my strong distaste for Stickles, but took a chance because the sale was so good. I am happy to say that I really like them. They dry fast, so the chance of smearing is greatly diminished! If you haven't tried them, I suggest them. Okay, enough of my "sales pitch" and on to the card! The photo doesn't do justice to the flower -- it is so sparkly!Supplies Used: Something Within (Unity), Flower (unknown Gina K. it was rak'ed to me by the Lovely Lee), American Crafts ribbon, unknown DP, Blue Bayou SU Ink, Kaisercrafts Pearls, Shimmerz Blingz
