A Lovely Saturday

It's a lovely Saturday today. It's cloudy and looks like rain. It's in the low 50's (for now). I have work outside that I need to do today...but it's still a lovely Saturday...because I don't have to go to work! HA! Actually, my new job isn't bad. It's completely different from what I was doing before, though, so it's just taking a little bit of adjusting.

I didn't make anything this week, but have a card I didn't share yet. I used Jillibean Soup paper and a Unity stamp (I really only own Unity and Stampin' Up, in case you didn't notice. It's on my shopping list to buy more from different companies!). The bottom tv I cut out and covered with UTEE to give it the look of a tv screen.

Enjoy your weekend!

Busy, Busy Blog

My blog has been awfully busy this week! That's because my husband has been gone and he left me to my own devices...what else is there to do but stamp?? After two weeks, he is coming home today. YAY! He's going to have a very hard time reclaiming his side of the bed, as I have taken to sleeping smack dab in the middle. But that's what he gets for leaving me alone for so long, right? :) So here are two challenge cards that I have made. The first is for the Limelight sketch challenge. I flipped the sketch on it's side.

I used Cosmo Cricket Girl Friday paper and a Unity stamp from Another Sweet Day.

The second challenge card is for the Basic Grey challenge to use paper piecing. Paper piecing is my favorite method of "coloring" so this was right up my alley.

I used the Basic Grey paper Lime Rickey. The stamps are both from Unity (Love in the Air and Endings & Beginnings)

I'm sure that next week my blog won't be quite as busy since not only will my husband be home, but I start my new job! I hope you all enjoyed my week of blog posts (I think I only missed one day -- how insane!).
Enjoy your long Labor Day weekend!

Why, Hello There!

(FWF post is the next post down)

I think that fall is here! Either that, or the weather is just toying with me. If it's here, wow it comes early in Wisconsin! It's 57 degrees here. Nice, huh?
I made this card for the CardPatterns sketch #79, and I'm actually getting it submitted on time for a change!

Supplies Used: Jillibean Soup, Unity Stamp Co., Taylored Expressions, SEI buttons, May Arts Ribbon, Fiskars Border Punch, Bazzil thread

If you are having fall weather right now too, I hope you are enjoying it!

Scene It!

Happy Friday and Friends with Flair. Today I mixed and matched different stamps and used the masking technique to create a fun little scene card.

Stamps Used: House, Tree, and Sentiment (Another Sweet Day), Clothesline (Perfect in Every Way), Bicycle (Following My Heart), Clouds (A Pocket Full Of...)

I actually used more stamps for the scene, but then I decided to cut it down to a square 4.5" card. It was good call, because the card was getting a little too busy. I used one of my biggest enemies (the STICKLES) to embellish it and did a little paper piercing on the word "home" with some Jillibean Soup patterned paper.

New Techniques

Here are the other two cards that I made for VSN (plus a practice card). They were new techniques for me. The first technique was to make a tent-fold card. My first attempt took me a lot longer then 45 minutes. I cut and folded a few things incorrectly, my sewing machine jammed, and so on and so forth. So I had to make a second card to submit. The second one went a lot more smoothly.

This is the one that I submitted.

The other technique that I tried was the Wax Paper Cuttlebug Resist. I had a hard time getting a good photo because of the glossy paper, and it was dark when I took the picture.

I learned how to make these cards by using the Resource page on Splitcoast. TONS of information here!
