Dreaming of Spring

Little Dude!
This last card doesn't look too much like a little boy card, I know. She told me that he likes to play the drums and I couldn't come up with anything for drums. So I went with music notes instead. The stamps are from We R Memory Keepers and A Muse. Paper is Jillibean Soup. I also used some nestabilities for the rectangles.

Happy Sequential Day!
I have a CAS (clean & simple) card to share today. It uses the Yummy stamp set from Stampin' Up (which I think is now retired?).
Jon's family is vacationing in the Wisconsin Dells, which isn't too far from us, so we are going to play mini golf and have dinner with them tonight. (No cooking, yay!) Summer is starting to wind down. I think I'm ready for fall (but not winter. I will never be ready for winter). Have a great day!

I Hate When I Do That!
So I made this scrapbook page for the Sketchy Thursday blog sketch challenge. Tuesday night at 11:30 I remembered that I hadn't yet photographed the page and submitted it. I almost got out of bed and did it then! I should have. Because I am just now posting it. Oh well, it happens. Lucky for me, I also used the recipe challenge on the Scrap and Stamp blog, and I still have time to link it there!

HA! How Ironic.
Well, I feel like I need to make a second post today...sorry to make you come back to my blog. hehe However, the Scripture Challenge word that I just finished was... (dum, dum, dum) TEMPTATION. HA! So here's what I came up with.
I used the verses Luke 22:45-46. "When he rose from prayer and went back to the disciples, he found them asleep exhausted from sorrow. "Why are you sleeping?" he asked them. "Get up and pray so that you will not fall into temptation." I often find myself looking for comfort in other things (i.e. PAPER! hehe) or when the going gets tough, I forget the most important thing -- prayer! I am currently reading a book called Manna, and it's calling us to depend daily on God. Not to fall into the temptation to depend on worldly things. It's really been challenging me to live my life differently.
The paper is from SU, chipboard letters are Sassafrass...I so cannot stitch straight, good thing I was going for the fun, funky look, right?!(ha!)
Okay, that's all for today!

Nothin' Much
Soooo...I made these cards one night. Didn't fall in love with them, but since my blog hasn't had many updates lately (besides yesterday!), I thought I would share anyway. They use chipboard of course. I am seriously using up my stash and lovin' it!

Feeling a Little Blue (and White)?
The Stamp Something challenge is to create a card that is blue and white. I made this card using some paper that my crafty friend Rachel sent me. Good timing for the challenge! The stamp is from Unity (go ahead wish).
Keeping it short and sweet today! For those of you (lucky) ones that have tomorrow off -- enjoy your long weekend!

Welcome Twenty-Ten!

This second card I made for my niece. I bought her some Hello Kitty stuff for Christmas and she told me that she LOVES Hello Kitty, but has never watched her on TV and she really wants to. So of course, Aunt Katy has to take care of that. So I bought her a DVD and plan on sending it to her with this card. I have never made an acetate card before, but I think it's cute! Hard to photograph though...

P.S. On my last post, about losing my blog design, I was asked by a few people how to make a copy of your blog so that you don't lose it. Here's some simple instructions:
To back up your blog you can do one of two things:
Go to the edit html tab under layout and download the full template.
Or you can copy and paste all your html into a notepad document. It has to be Notepad because it doesn't convert the html like other word processing programs.
Hope that helps! :)

Christmas Quilt
I loved how this card turned out. I used the Nestabilitie Labels 4 die and on the bottom layer I used the quilted technique. It's very cute in real life! There is also stitching on the bottom layer, that is kind of difficult to see in the picture.

Christmas Quickies!
Okay, I have some quick Christmas cards to share with you. Rather then bore you with post after post of cards, I decided to put all the images here. I didn't use sketches or anything for these (amazing!). I just sat myself down and said "Katy, you're going to make Christmas cards. No playing on the computer!" So here you go, my Christmas quickies!

Liar, Liar!
Remember that I said you would get a short break from Christmas cards. Well, I lied. But not on purpose. I never did get those birthday cards done (thank goodness for a stash, right!). But I did get 2 more cards done for some challenges. The first one is the Etsy-Inspired challenge. I'm really bad at remembering to do this one, but every once in awhile, I'm on the ball! I was inspired by this piece here in the Barefoot Weaver store.
Supplies Used: Tiny Trinity (Unity), Christmas Blessings (TE), Winter Wonderland PP (LAD), Vintage Christmas Flowersoft, Kaisercraft Rhinestones, Threading Water Border Punch (Fiskars)
And this card is for the Card Patterns sketch. I'm not sure that I got it posted on time. I had it done last week and just now had a chance to post it.
Supplies Used: Christmas Verses (ODBD), Kraft CS (Gina K), Mistletoe PP (Making Memores), Threading Water Border Punch (Fiskars), American Crafts ribbon

A Busy Bee!
IS ME!! I am going to get my Christmas cards done!! Are you tired of seeing Christmas cards EVERYWHERE??? Probably. Don't worry, I need to make some birthday cards today, so you'll get a quick break... This card I made for the Basic Grey Sketch #9 challenge. I had to take off some of the layers on the sketch because it made my card too heavy, but otherwise, I stuck pretty well to the sketch, I think. The Basic Grey is paper from the Archaic collection.

Supplies Used: Christmas Blessings (Taylored Expressions), Archaic PP (Basic Grey), SU DP (retired, name unknown), Close to Cocoa Classic Ink (SU), Ribbon (American Crafts), Rhinestones (Kaisercraft)

Shimmery Fun
I made this card for the Cuttlebug Challenge to use glitter. I used the Snowflakes Cuttlebug folder as the background and then painted Pixie Dust Shimmerz over the whole card. In person it is SO shimmery! The camera had a hard time picking it up, but if you squint and turn your head funny, maybe you can see it. I included a close-up of some of the shimmery goodness though if you don't really want to try that.

And here's another card I made, using the same idea. It uses the Quickutz Christmas tree embossing die. I covered it in Pixie Dust Shimmerz and some really fun Polar White Flower Soft.

P.S. Can't see the shimmer? Try clicking the image to enlarge. It's there, I promise! :D

Favorite Patterned Paper
The Limelight Sketch #35
Use your favorite patterned paper!
My card ending up more boring then what I was going for. But sometimes simplicity is best! :)

Going SEW Crazy
I am loving my sewing machine -- especially that zig zag stitching! So here's a few projects with some sewing on it. I'm not good yet, but I'm getting there.

Tag #6,348 and a Challenge Card
Have you ever made a project over and over and over and over....Well, that's what I did with this tag. I cut out about 6,000 scalloped circles and I finally ended up with this tag. Not my favorite, but definitely my favorite out of all the ones I attempted. This is for the LAD Sketch #102 challenge.

This card is for the Stamping Sisters Challenge to make a card about when God is "unseen." I made this as an encouragement card to remind a friend that God is there. I absolutely love the sentiment. I think I need to make a wall hanging with this on it.

O Christmas Cards, O Christmas Cards...
...you're images are so lovely.
I am so happy to get you done EARLY!
Okay...it sorta rhymes. But seriously, I have about 11 Christmas cards done already, that's amazing! Only about 4o more to go. whoo-hoo!! I made this card for the Basic Grey color challenge to use blue, green, and red. The Basic Grey elements on my card are the ribbon and the heart chipboard.

Simply Jesus
This is my new Taylored Expressions kit that I just got in the mail. I love the sentiments. They are absolutely perfect and capture the TRUE meaning of Christmas -- simply Jesus. Love it. And I can't wait to make millions (okay maybe not quite...) of Christmas cards with this beautiful set!

You may be wondering why my cards look similar to each other lately (same paper, ribbon, stamps, etc...) Well, it's kind of a personal challenge. When I use a piece of paper, instead of putting half of it into the scrap pile, never to see it again, I am trying to use it up. Which means more cards! And I now have another challenge -- to make 50 projects before I buy anything new! Yikes! My friends Martha and Rachel are challenging themselves to do 100! I have to start small though...and it's hard because I heard there's a good sale at Michael's this week. Oh and guess what? I'm going to a used stamp sale this weekend in Kansas City. So I better make 50 projects and QUICK!! So here's my second card, using the same patterned paper as the card above. I love how cute and sparkly this turned out! And the sentiment is again, just perfect! May your Christmas be a time to reflect on the simplicity of His birth and the magnitude of His purpose. It says it perfectly.

And here's a close up of the shimmerz, can you see it??
