Welcome Twenty-Ten!

Well, it's 2010! Amazing, huh? I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and rang in the New Year right! I know I did -- sound asleep in my bed! Yep, I'm a wild woman, I know. :)
I made this first card before I left for vacation, but didn't get a chance to post it. I followed the Limelight Sketch #37, and even though it's too late to enter it, I thought you liked to see anyway, right? I used the star from the Unity set a pocket full of... and the sentiment is from Lizzie Anne's set Sketched Sentiments.

This second card I made for my niece. I bought her some Hello Kitty stuff for Christmas and she told me that she LOVES Hello Kitty, but has never watched her on TV and she really wants to. So of course, Aunt Katy has to take care of that. So I bought her a DVD and plan on sending it to her with this card. I have never made an acetate card before, but I think it's cute! Hard to photograph though...

P.S. On my last post, about losing my blog design, I was asked by a few people how to make a copy of your blog so that you don't lose it. Here's some simple instructions:

To back up your blog you can do one of two things:

Go to the edit html tab under layout and download the full template.

Or you can copy and paste all your html into a notepad document. It has to be Notepad because it doesn't convert the html like other word processing programs.

Hope that helps! :)

Oh Yeah, I CAN Cook!

If there is one thing everybody knows about me, it's that cooking is NOT my strong point. I don't enjoy it and I rarely enjoy eating what I cook (I have two words for you -- GREEN CHICKEN -- my husband will probably never let me live that down!) So imagine my surprise when I received a "Most Creative Chef" award....from VSN!! So, I can't cook in the kitchen, but in my craft room - WATCH OUT! hehe This was for Paula Deen, The Queen challenge. The card had to be brown and yellow with crumpled paper (fried chicken and butter! And the crumpling was to represent the frying).Supplies Used: Owl Always Love You (Gina K. Designs), SU Kraft CS, Coredinations Chocolate Box, Ink: Chocoloate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Top Note Die, Spots and Dots Embossing Folder, Ribbon, Sandpaper

Life Is a Gift

So, one month ago I was sitting in a booth at the Orange County Conference Center in Orlando, FL working...Great timing huh? HA! Anyway, the crafting world is all a-buzz this week enjoying CHA at that very conference center, but back in the "real world" it's like a ghost town! I told somebody today I wouldn't be surprised if a tumbleweed went rolling by. So to keep us non-CHA'ers entertained, the Unity DT is coming up with some challenges for us. Isn't that super sweet of them?!? This card is a sketch challenge from Amber. You can see the challenge here.
Supplies: Birthday Chic, Cosmo Cricket Ever After, Very Vanilla cardstock, yellow cardstock from my stash, Shimmerz, SEI buttons, SU and American Crafts ribbon, Kaiser Pearls, Memento Tuxedo Black ink

Challenge Time!

This card is for the Stamp Something challenge to use the sketch they provided. Visit the Stamp Something blog to see the sketch and play along. Also, it was my turn over in the Unity Stamp forum to come up with the You Shouldn't Have Left Us Alone Challenge. Not too many people play these challenges, so who knows how much longer they are going to be around?! So if you want to play, get over to the Unity forum on Splitcoast and post your card. This was my challenge:

You will be making a card using your least favorite color as the primary color (no just throwing it on in a small spot where you can barely see it!), use two embellishments that are your least favorite, and use a stamp that hasn't seen any ink yet (or if by some miracle all your stamps have been inky, use one that hasn't seen much ink).

Here's my sample card. Don't let this shock you, but I did NOT choose Stickles as my least favorite embellishment. I choose eyelets and a ribbon that I didn't care much for, but it came in the package. One of my least favorite colors is purple (don't shoot me!), and I had a few stamps from the May KOM that needed some ink still!

Supplies Used: Another Sweet Day (May KOM), Everyday Adorable, Kraft cardstock, Crate DP, Making Memories ribbon and eyelets, Word Window Punch, edge distresser Pin It Now!

It's Been Awhile, But HHH Is Back!

I've been making some cards for the Unity Birthday Challenge and thought they would be perfect to share with you for HHH! I LOVED the One Layer Birthday card challenge, which really surprised me, but I made two (very similar) cards!
I like how my card turned out, but I wish I had a tiny little stamp to say "Over the Hill" since that was the intent of the card. I think that the stamp of the hill is self-explanatory enough though.
Stamps: Birthday Chic, Nov. KOTM
Paper: Core'dinations Cardstock
Ink: White
Accessories: Prima Flowers, Ribbon, word window punch, swiss dots

Stamps: April KOTM
Paper: Kraft
Ink: chocolate chip, antique linen distress ink
Accessories: ribbon, kaiser pearls (pewter)

70's Peacock, Happy Birthday, and HELP!!!

I've got a long blog post for you today! Saturday I was able to go scrap with a friend for awhile and she has the Top Note die. I LOVE THIS THING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cut out a bunch of them and I have two cards to share. The first one is a birthday card. I also used her Stampin' Up markers and I liked them! I am thinking about investing in those.

Supplies:
Polka Dot Cupcake (Unity Stamp Co)
Happy Birthday Stamp (Stampin' Up)
Top Note Die (SU), Ribbon (American Crafts), Swiss Dot Die (Cuttlebug)

The second card is one of my favorites. It looks like it's from the 70's because of the yellow and brown. But that's okay -- I like it! I embossed the top note die with swiss dots then I used sandpaper to bring the yellow dots to the front of the cardstock. Supplies:
Peacock (Unity Stamp Co)
Happiness (SU)
Ribbon (American Craft), Swiss Dot Die (Cuttlebug), Core'dinations Chocolate Box Cardstock, Sandpaper, Sponge, Summer Sun and Chocolate Chip ink (SU)

Okay, last but not least, I NEED HELP!!! I bought a scrapbook layout that had everything you need to make the page and I need to know the brand of patterned paper. I do NOT know my brands very well at all... so any help, or even guesses would be appreciated!! It's the paper that's on the arrow!

Okay, that's all for now!! Thanks for reading my super long post! :)

Enjoy!

Orange You Sweet

***You may notice that my blog keeps changing! Especially if you tried to look at it this morning. I'm trying to find a layout that I like. I'm pretty happy with this one, so it may not change again for awhile, but there's still a few kinks I need to work out! If anybody knows why the email link and quick edit link won't work at the end of the post, let me know!! The boxes are checked in the widget so I don't get it!***

For those of you that don't know, my husband Jon is a pastor. So usually once or twice a month he gives me a list of people he wants cards sent to and I make them for him. Well, Sunday night at church a very sweet lady named Dorothy told me how much she loves the cards I make and told me I can send her one anytime I want... I was so excited to hear that somebody actually enjoys the cards!

Okay, now unto the card! I made this birthday card last week. I love the orange and how the glitter sparkles!

Supplies:
Happy Birthday from Eat Cake Set (Stampin' Up)
Orange from Tart-n-Tangy set (Stampin' Up)
sweet thing from Cupcakes a'la Yummy (Unity)
Patterned Paper and Ribbon also from Stampin' Up
Brads are Making Memories (I think!)
Glitter is from Doodlebug Pin It Now!

Celebrate!

I made this card for the Stamp Something! challenge. The challenge was to make a birthday project.
Patterned Paper is from Basic Grey Sugared Collection. Ribbon is from Prima and American Crafts.
Stamps are from Unity (Flirty Flowers) and Stampin' Up (Just Celebrate).
I also used the word window punch, slit punch, ticket corner punch, brads, and pearls. Also, I embossed the cardstock with the cuttlebug.

And here's the close up on the flowers. I sponged Pretty in Pink ink around the flowers to lighten up the "whiteness" of the cardstock! Pin It Now!

My First Hip Hop Hangover Post!

I didn't get to participate in most of Hip Hop yesterday (can I still be hung over?!), but I did make a challenge card. It didn't quite turn out how I wanted, but I still like it!

Stamps:
Cupcake a'la Yummy
I also used three sets from Stampin' Up:
Holiday Set (from the Country Living Set) for the "enjoy"
Espress Yourself for the "Your" and Friendship Grows for the "Day" (I think I need a stamp that says "Your Day"!!)

Ink:
Riding Hood Red, Basic Black

Paper:
Country Living DSP
Cardstock is from Stampin' Up (it's from the In Color group, not sure what the color is called)

Also used ribbon and scalloped punch from Stampin' Up! and a red droplet on the cherry!

Speaking of cupcakes...Wednesday I really wanted something sweet! So I searched the whole house over and found nothing! My husband nicely suggests that I just make some brownies or a cake... There was no way, I was soooo tired from a long day. Next thing I know he is in the kitchen working away. I'm happy to say, he made his very first cake and it was YUMMY!! I have a pretty good man~guess I'll keep him! :)

Enjoy your Day!

Welcome!!

Well, I've finally done it! I've leaped into the world of blogging my creations! I said I wasn't going to! I spend too much time on the computer as it is! But I'm weak...

Actually, the reason I have taken the leap is because I am *considering* submitting my work for a design team. And you need to have a blog in order to be on the design team I'm considering! Soooo....HERE I AM!!

So, here's a few samples of my work...NOT what I'm submitting to the design team... just some old projects I thought I'd share to start this out!!

This is one of my favorite cards that I've made! I used a sketch challenge from Splitcoast Stampers, but for the life of me, I can't find the one it was, but it was quite a long time ago! I used the stamp set from Stampin' Up, Alphabet Soup and the cardstock is Soft Sky. The patterned paper is from Target... I don't remember the brand...if anybody knows, let me know and I'll post it!

And here is another favorite of mine! It was a Christmas Card that I made. The stamp is from the Unity Stamp Company. This is from the November kit of the month. The cardstock and patterned paper are all from Stampin' Up. The buttons are from Walmart, and the ribbon is American Crafts. I used colored pencils to color the image, but decided it looked to "harsh." So I lightly erased it after I colored it and it softened the colors right up. PERFECT!

Okay, that's all the sharing for today. Thank so much for checking out my brand new blog! Pin It Now!
