The Evalina Hat

How stinkin' cute is this hat?!? This is the Evalina hat which can be found at the fresh and trendy Anthropologie store. The Clean and Simple card challenge at Splitcoast was to be inspired by something at this store. I saw this hat and thought....KRAFT! You know I love it :) And I love, love, love how this card turned out.
I know that there is no yellow in the hat, but the verse got lost on the card and this was the only way I could think of to make it more prominent. I inked the edges by just rubbing my dew drop along them.
Supplies Used~ Stamps: Vintage Ledger, Giving It All Meaning, Something Within; Paper: Kraft CS; Ink: Chocolate Chip, VersaMark Jumbo Java; Accessories: scrap-elastic, grommet, yellow marker

Unity Gives You Wings!

I made this card for the Etsy-Inspired challenge. The shop this week is Red Crow Arts. This was my inspiration piece.I hadn't used the heart with wings image from my August kit of the month yet, so I thought that this was the perfect time to use it. I wanted to make a simple one-layer card. I don't love how it turned out, I think I tried to put too much on a one-layer card maybe?

I did my first Christmas card of the year today for the Moxie Fab challenge to create a Christmas card using stamps. Visit their blog for a whole bunch of holiday challenges! There's a Thief in Our Midst!

His name is Jon and he is my husband! He stole (okay, technically BORROWED because he DID ask first) my camera and didn't bring it home until today! He seriously doesn't realize the need to post on my blog on Fridays! hehe! Ooh well, I'm a day late (more then a dollar short!) but here's my Hip Hop Hangover post. Did you see the good news that on Fridays we will now be Friends with FLAIR. How fun and CUTE is that!! Some of the girls wanted a theme this week, so I decided to participate and used my Bubblegum tree...and oldie but a goody! I combined it with my BRAND NEW background stamp, Giving It All Meaning. I colored my image with Shimmerz paint and used the worlds smallest eyelets to add a little color. Thanks for stopping by my day late HHH post and see you next week for Friends with FLAIR!

Oh Yeah, I CAN Cook!

If there is one thing everybody knows about me, it's that cooking is NOT my strong point. I don't enjoy it and I rarely enjoy eating what I cook (I have two words for you -- GREEN CHICKEN -- my husband will probably never let me live that down!) So imagine my surprise when I received a "Most Creative Chef" award....from VSN!! So, I can't cook in the kitchen, but in my craft room - WATCH OUT! hehe This was for Paula Deen, The Queen challenge. The card had to be brown and yellow with crumpled paper (fried chicken and butter! And the crumpling was to represent the frying).Supplies Used: Owl Always Love You (Gina K. Designs), SU Kraft CS, Coredinations Chocolate Box, Ink: Chocoloate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Top Note Die, Spots and Dots Embossing Folder, Ribbon, Sandpaper

Hey, How's It Hanging!

Welcome to my Hip Hop Hangover post! I'm keeping it short today to make up for my rambling and whining from yesterday! I made this card for a couple's 50th Anniversary. The lady I gave it to thought it said "clove" instead of "love" and was confused...If I use this stamp again, I will probably not ink the full thing. If you stare at it long enough, it DOES become "clove." Oh well, it's still a pretty card!Supplies Used: Perfect in Every Way (June KOM), White and Riding Hood Red CS, Baroque Burgundy Classic Ink, Quickutz Nesting Labels, Button, SU Ribbon, Stylized Flowers and Swiss Dots Embossing Dies

And here is a layout I did late last night, on a whim...just because I felt like it!Supplies Used: Distressed Dots, Shurberry Tree, Nostalgia Core'dinations cardstock, Shimmerz, Kaisercraft Rhinestones, Versamagic Hint of Pesto and Jumbo Java ink, SU! If A Big Semi Truck Ran Me Over...

I wonder if this is what it would feel like??? Pounding headache, nauseous, and every bone in my body hurts. Ack! I know what's wrong, and don't worry it's not contagious, so you can stay on my blog, I SWEAR! I tried eating breakfast, but could barely keep it down. I am so hungry and yet so not hungry all at the same time -- how does THAT happen?! (I should mention, that I'm NOT pregnant...I know that is the first thing that came to your mind. I WISH I were pregnant...but I am SO not...) Okay, I know you don't come to my blog to read about my problems, so I'm moving on. No more whining from me. Promise. :) I have a two page layout to share with you today. I don't love it, but I'm not gonna whine. This is another layout of my adorable niece Rebekah. I miss my nieces and nephews so much. I haven't seen them since November! But again, I'm so NOT whining.Supplies Used: Distressed Dots, Another Sweet Day (May KOM), Little Me, This Is the Time (Large and Mini), A Pocket Full of...(July KOM), Coredinations Cardstock (ROYGBIV Collection), Prima DP, Memento Rose Bud Ink, VersaMagic Red Brick Ink, Chloe's Closet Cardstock Stickers (Making Memories), American Crafts Ribbon, Basic Grey Chipboard Letters, MME Rub-on, October Afternoon arrow sticker

You're My Sweet Pea

Oh Sweet Pea come on and dance with me
Come on, come on, come on and dance with me
Oh Sweet Pea won't you be my girl
Won't you, won't you, won't you be my girl
--Tommy Roe

Sweet pea
Apple of my eye
Don't know when and I don't know why
You're the only reason I keep on coming home
Sweet pea
What's all this about
Don't get your way all you do is fuss and pout
You're the only reason I keep on coming home
--Amos Lee

Bet ya didn't know Sweet Pea was such a popular subject to sing about, huh? Well, today I'm singing the praises of Sweet Pea...Sweet Pea Flower Soft, that is! I just got this yesterday and I've used it twice. It is so fun to play with and adds a great dimension to the card!! I played along with VSN last night, and here are some of the cards I made with it. Love it!

What Can I Say? I'm a Follower!

Yep, I follow...so in the Hip Hop chat yesterday when they said to use the Love in the Air set, guess what I used? Really, it hadn't seen ink since I bought it, so I figured this was the perfect time to pull it out! Jon and I have a friend who owns a hot air balloon. So when we lived in MI, we used to be part of his "chase crew." That meant, while he was flying around, we drove around on the ground following him (see, I'm a follower!). It was more exciting then it sounds, promise! Jon went up a couple times...but not me, I kept my feet firmly planted on the ground!! Okay, enough chit chat (yeah, I know you're bored!). I did a lot of paper piecing on this card, and even pulled out my enemy -- the STICKLES!Supplies Used: Distressed Dots, Love in the Air, This is the Time (mini), Top Note Die, Chocolate Chip SU Ink, Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, SEI button, American Crafts ribbon, Fruit Punch, Orange Peel, Frosted Lace, Yellow, and Diamond Stickles, lots of dp

I'm in Love with vol25

OH MY GOODNESS!! I was over on Rachel's blog today and she was encouraging people to play the Etsy-Inspired challenge. It's been awhile (I checked, last time was February!) so I thought I'd try it out. So I went to the Etsy store, vol25, and FELL IN LOVE! It helps that the owner is also an artist for Unity (obviously my favorite stamp company), but the pieces were amazing. So I decided to most definitely play along this week, and you should too! Here is my inspiration piece (there were SO many to choose from). The colors, the wish sticks, the hearts, I loved the entire thing!
And here is my card:

Supplies Used: Wish Sticks, Little Me, This Is the Time (mini), American Crafts Ribbon, Shimmerz Spritz, Swiss Cheese Edger Punch, Robin's Nest Dew Drops, Curvy Label Punch

Swiss Cheese, TV, and Love

What do these 3 things have in common? Well, they are all on this one card, that's what! I created this card for the Moxie Fab World Bag Lady Challenge. This is the bag I used as my inspiration. I was inspired by the colors of the bag -- it made me really want to go to the beach!
I have a hard time with inspiration challenges because I am too much of a "literal" person. If you tell me to be inspired by something, I want to use the same color, texture, and design. So I challenged myself to make this less literal. I picked a stamp that wasn't anything like the design of the bag and simply used the colors of the bag. I think I did okay. I really like how the card turned out and the stamp is just too cute!Supplies Used: Love is Everything, SU Cardstock, My Minds Eye DP (behind the holes), Blue Bayou Classic Ink, Crate and American Crafts ribbon, button, Swiss Cheese edger punch, Doodlebug glitter, Quickutz retro squares embossing folder

Limelight Sketch and Product Challenge

Here's another card I did for a challenge. I have been finding that I enjoy making cards more when I have a "reason" so I have been doing a lot of challenges lately. The Limelight challenge was to follow the sketch that was provided and to use paint of some kind. I used Shimmerz Blingz to paint the flower on my card. Not too long ago, Mandy had an awesome sale on these and I was told to try them. I was leery because of my strong distaste for Stickles, but took a chance because the sale was so good. I am happy to say that I really like them. They dry fast, so the chance of smearing is greatly diminished! If you haven't tried them, I suggest them. Okay, enough of my "sales pitch" and on to the card! The photo doesn't do justice to the flower -- it is so sparkly!Supplies Used: Something Within (Unity), Flower (unknown Gina K. it was rak'ed to me by the Lovely Lee), American Crafts ribbon, unknown DP, Blue Bayou SU Ink, Kaisercrafts Pearls, Shimmerz Blingz

Some Great Combinations

There are some great combinations of things out there... One I experienced this week was ice cream cupcakes from Coldstone Creamery. Ice cream, cake, fudge, and frosting all in a chocolate cup. Yummy combination? Ummm....YES! Another yummy combination is Basic Grey and Unity. I love them both! So this week, I combined the sketch from the Basic Grey challenge blog and the Unity 1-2-3 challenge to be September's Guest Design Team Member. Good combination...another YES!! Supplies Used: July KOTM, Basic Grey Mellow, Memento Rose Bud,ribbon, chipboard, Crate paper rub on

Scrap and Stamp: Embossing

Here is my scrapbook page for the challenge at the Scrap and Stamp blog. The challenge was to emboss on the layout. I used the Spots and Dots Cuttlebug embossing folder for the mat behind the photo. I also used some scrapbook paper that had a little embossing on it.
Supplies Used: 12 Months of Goodness Journal box, July kotm, American Crafts Foil Paper, American Crafts gingham ribbon, Chloe's Closet (Making Memories) canvas stickers, Spots and Dots embossing folder
And here is a close up of the embossing on the mat:

Hip Hop Hangover -- 3 in a Row!

3 weeks IN A ROW! Can you believe it?!? I don't know if I would say I have MOJO or not, but I'm a card-makin' fool! The first card is for the Unity Guest DT challenge. I don't love it. It's just kind of boring. Eh. What can you do!
Supplies Used: Stampin' Up DP, Wide Ric-Rac (from Limelight), Sassafrass buttons, cherries are from the June KOTM, ticket corner punch, slot punch, Swiss Dots Embossing Folder

This card was for the Hip Hop button challenge.

Supplies Used: July KOTM, Swiss Dots embossing folder, Coredinations Black Magic cardstock, SEI buttons, ric rac, ribbon, SU Rub-on

Mellow Sunshine and Some Other Cards

I love that phrase! Mellow Sunshine...maybe a new name for my blog?! I don't know. Anyway, I made this card for the Unity Guest Designer challenge. This card isn't how I envisioned it and nothing was working out right for me, but I LOVE how my card turned out. Supplies Used: Unity July KOTM, Coredinations Vintage Cardstock (Flower Power), Basic Grey Mellow dp, Basic Grey Mellow Ribbon, American Crafts Ric Rac, circle punch, paper piercing

This card I made for the Paper Crafts call. I really loved how it turned out and may be addicted to piercing circles!
Supplies Used: Bazzil and SU Cardstock, Everyday Adorable Unity Stamp set, SEI button, Real Red Classic Ink, staples, 8x8 Circle Institchz Template

This was another attempt at the Paper Crafts magazine call. I like the green and brown, but it is probably a little to "fall" for what they wanted. But it doesn't hurt to try, right!
Supplies Used: Chocolate Chip Classic Ink, Forest Green Staz-On, Heidi Swapp edge distresser, Kaisercrafts Rhinestones, Basic Grey Mellow Ribbon, Kraft and AC Cardstock, SEI Button, Perfect in Every Way stamp set (June KOTM)
