Candy Cane Holder (and winner)

Today I have a fun project to share. I cut out these adorable little stockings using my Silhouette. Then I stitched around the sides to close them up. I stuffed them with polyester stuffing to puff them out. Then I added some Liquid Applique to make the tops puffy. I wanted to embellish them a little more, but I have pretty much run out of time (my Christmas cards are still not finished!). I am going to put a candy cane in each of these and give them to my kids at school. I love how they turned out!

I wrote the kids names in Stickles at the top of the stocking. I smudged them in the picture on purpose (not sure if I needed to, but just to be safe!). They are NOT smudged in person...okay, yes they are, but only a little. You all know that I hate Stickles, right? :) Imagine that there is a candy cane in there, I haven't bought them yet.
And the winner of my blog candy was Karen B. also enduring the freezing cold state of Wisconsin with me! Email me your address and I'll mail your stamp. katytipton at yahoo dot com.

Scene It!

Happy Friday and Friends with Flair. Today I mixed and matched different stamps and used the masking technique to create a fun little scene card.

Stamps Used: House, Tree, and Sentiment (Another Sweet Day), Clothesline (Perfect in Every Way), Bicycle (Following My Heart), Clouds (A Pocket Full Of...)

I actually used more stamps for the scene, but then I decided to cut it down to a square 4.5" card. It was good call, because the card was getting a little too busy. I used one of my biggest enemies (the STICKLES) to embellish it and did a little paper piercing on the word "home" with some Jillibean Soup patterned paper.

Summertime Foods and Camping

Splitcoast hosted a VSN over the weekend. VSN stands for Virtual Stamp Night (although it's generally a weekend), and challenges are posted every hour for you to play along. The catch is that you only have 45 minutes to finish each card. For somebody like me who is sloooooow, that's a challenge. Here's the first card I made. It was to be inspired by food in the summertime. I love to have barbecue's in the summer, so I made this card.

The second challenge that I did was to be inspired by camping. Well, you should know -- I hate camping. To me, roughing it would be a Holiday Inn. I also don't feel like something that's used as a table during the day should be a bed at night. But I know there are tons of "crazies" out there that enjoy this activity. ;) So here is my card inspired by this crazy thing called camping.
